   Screen was faulty when installed. Two white lines down the screen. Happy to have bought from Amazon for an easy return but disappointed at it not working first time.

   I’m writing this review to offset and clear up some things about these iPhone screens. I bought this black iPhone 5 screen assembly, from seller CWK Technology. Shipping was very fast and screen was secure and padded.

   One thing you need to know before you do anything. TEST YOUR SCREEN BEFORE FINAL INSTALL. I have done a lot of iPhone screen repairs over the years. And I can say, not all screens are perfect. There is a chance you will get a defective one. After you took your old screen off. Connect the new screen, make sure the connections are secure. Flip the screen over and turn on your phone. Test it out including the digitizer(touch screen). I’ve had a few iPhone and iPad screens w/ dead spots. Make sure you can swipe in all directions. After testing, carefully turn off your phone and reassembly everything. Most US sellers are really good w/ returns or exchanges. I haven’t had a problem w/ returning or exchanging a screen. If a seller refuses to return or exchange your screen, report it to Amazon.

   Arrived in 2 days. Installed it exceedingly carefully making sure not to damage the ribbon wires. As soon as I replaced the screen onto the phone body the screen went black. I took the screen back off (carefully), replaced all the ribbon wire connections, screen was working fine again, replaced screen on phone body – black screen again. I went through all the possible configurations of leaving the ribbon wire connection cover plate and screws out thinking they might be impinging the wires – same thing. I then reinstalled my old (cracked) screen and mounted it on the phone body – works great! (Except it’s cracked!)

   Defective screen right out of the box. I suspect there is a bad ribbon wire or connection thereof to the screen. The seller is very clear that once it is out of the box there is no warranty (that is to say: “there is no warranty on this product”). You pay your money and you take your chances. You’re probably better off paying the extra money to the Apple store for the repair.
